Alison Jackson BA (Hons), PGCE, Adv Dip Couns, Registered MBACP
Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)
As an Integrative Counsellor I believe that no one counselling theory will either make sense of or be entirely applicable to every person. I work with people in whatever way helps them to resolve the issue they have chosen to address. I employ approaches and methods from Person-Centred Counselling, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Transpersonal Psychology, and Psychosynthesis.
We can experience difficulty in a number of ways: in our thoughts; in our feelings; in our bodies and in our spirits. My approach is to explore where the blocks lie and work with a person to help them move forward.
Broadly speaking my approach is humanistic and optimistic because I believe in the essential goodness of people, their innate drive to develop and their ability to use their inner resources to resolve difficulties.
I have worked with adults with a wide range of issues including abuse (emotional, physical, sexual), addictions, anger management, anxiety, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, self-harm, spiritual crisis, stress, trauma and work related issues.
As well as being a qualified and experienced counsellor, I have also taught in Secondary schools, worked with children with special needs and worked in a Higher Education Chaplaincy.
