Sonia Lee PhD, RCST, BCST
My primary training is in Craniosacral Biodynamics, a two year training with the internationally recognised pioneer in this work Franklyn Sills, at the Karuna Institute on Dartmoor, qualifying in 2007.
I have further training at Foundation level in psychotherapy, in mindfulness practices, in pre- and peri-natal and birth process, trauma and resolution. I have a depth of experience and skill in working with a wide range of chronic physical health problems, challenging emotions and life circumstances, trauma and early life experiences.
I live on Dartmoor and spend part of my working week with a charity providing support to the social care sector across the UK, bringing together research evidence, practitioner wisdom and the voice of children and adults receiving social care. I have a regular yoga and meditation practice and am supervised in my work.
I am registered with the Craniosacral Therapy Association UK and abide by their code of ethics.
Craniosacral therapy is a relaxing, safe and gentle therapy that supports your own resources and self-healing capabilities. It is a hands-on therapy, with roots in osteopathy. Craniosacral therapists are trained to use a very gentle touch to listen to subtle rhythmic movements in the body. This gentle touch listens deeply to our physical and psycho-emotional history and opens a dialogue with the body's underlying organising forces and priorities for healing. The intention is to restore balance, ease and connection. The gentle contact and listening with the hands offers space and holding for the body to reorient to health and wholeness, to find its centre and balance again and to build resources.
I can provide support alongside psychotherapy or conventional medicine and for people exploring alternative practices. I do my best to meet you where you are, with what you need and the approach you want to take to supporting your health.
My clients are advised to seek the expertise of the medical profession and to consider craniosacral therapy as complementary support for their wellbeing.
